About Us

We believe generosity deserves the best.

We believe giving should be simple, transparent, and impactful. WellFunded is building the technology and infrastructure to power the next generation of philanthropy in Canada.

Our Mission

Thoughtful generosity at scale

We're on a mission to make major giving more equitable, efficient, and effective—so that more Canadians can give with both heart and head.
WellFunded Mission

Make Giving Equitable

Every charity deserves to be discovered by aligned funders. Right now, fundraising rewards fundraising, not impact. We believe in levelling the playing field.

Make Giving Efficient

Shared infrastructure means charities stop filling out redundant applications and donors stop doing duplicate research. The problems of tomorrow are too big to go it alone.

Make Giving Effective

Too much data lives and dies in PDFs. We believe the philanthropy of the future is informed and inspired by real impact measurement.

Our Values

What guides us

These principles shape how we build our product, serve our clients, and work with each other.

Partnership First

We're always better together. Real infrastructure gets built through collaboration: with each of us co-creating part of a better benevolence.

The Future Isn't Waiting

Everything is being reshaped and business as usual isn't an option. We move fast, reimagine old systems, and build for the world that's coming—not the one that was.

No BS, Just Honest Work

We say what we mean and do what we say. No jargon, no spin. Just real people solving real problems with straightforward solutions.

Keep Money Moving

Every decision starts with one question: does this remove friction between generosity and impact on the ground?

Our Story

Built from firsthand experience

WellFunded was born from a simple realization: DAFs are great at bringing money in, but terrible at getting it out.

We helped build Charitable Impact, Canada's first online DAF. Jeff left to run a charity, while Daniel built successful businesses in other sectors. Both saw the same problem from different angles: donor advised funds had no shared infrastructure for discovery, due diligence, or strategic giving.

DAF providers were building the same tools separately. Wealth advisors lacked the resources to guide clients effectively. Foundations drowned in redundant applications. Charities couldn't connect with aligned funders. And billions of dollars sat waiting to flow to communities that needed it.

We reconnected over a shared question: what if there was central infrastructure for the entire ecosystem? What if charities filled out one profile instead of hundreds? What if due diligence was shared, not duplicated? What if wealth advisors had professional tools without building research teams?

A group of foundations and philanthropists who shared this vision funded the initial product. Today, WellFunded serves DAF providers, advisors, and foundations managing over $1.3B in charitable assets—with 100% customer retention. But we're just getting started building the infrastructure Canadian philanthropy needs.

Jeff Golby

Jeff Golby

CEO & Co-Founder

Jeff has sat on every side of the philanthropy table. He was part of the founding team at Charitable Impact, Canada's first online DAF, helping scale it from $3M to $115M in assets. He's advised Canada's wealthiest families on complex charitable gifts, led a peer-to-peer fundraising technology startup, and spent a decade as CEO of Acts for Water, one of Canada's oldest clean water charities. These experiences gave him firsthand insight into the infrastructure gap between generous donors and the charities doing the work—and the conviction that technology could close it.

Daniel Wintschel

Daniel Wintschel

CTO & Co-Founder

Dan was the first software engineer at Charitable Impact, where he spent seven years building the technology platform that has now facilitated over $1.4 billion in donations. He's since founded and exited a successful company, bringing deep expertise in financial services compliance and scalable architecture. His connection to philanthropy is personal: growing up below the poverty line and relying on the charity of others, combined with years serving on charity boards and advocating for mental health and social justice. All of this fuels his commitment to building infrastructure that makes generosity work better for everyone.
