How are you different from a Donor-Advised Fund like Fidelity DAF, CanadaGives, Charitable Impact (Chimp), GiftFunds, Abundance, etc.?

WellFunded isn’t a Donor-Advised Fund—we don’t manage charitable assets or issue tax receipts. Instead, we partner with DAFs (like CanadaGives and Abundance) to help their fundholders discover high-impact charities and projects more easily. We provide detailed, standardized Profiles (we call them Portraits) that showcase a charity’s leadership, financials, and core funding needs—so donors can give with confidence and clarity. We also work with Foundations and individuals outside the DAF ecosystem who want a better way to discover and support meaningful impact.

How many Canadian charities are in the database?

WellFunded includes all 85,000 registered Canadian charities with complete CRA financial data. We've also processed thousands of annual reports to extract impact information and created detailed profiles for 1,000+ organizations. Furthermore, we have charities creating profiles to continue to flesh out the data. We're continuously expanding our deep-profile coverage while maintaining searchability across the entire charitable sector.
